Does Heathrow London gets closed during night?

I am required to wait for about 12 hrs at Heathrow from 2200 hrs to 0800 hrs next day morning . I s it possible to wait in the passenger waiting area or this area also gets closed down like most other parts of the airport.

  1. If you have a ticket for a connecting flight, you can stay within the passenger waiting area, which remains open although all the shops and services there close. Its pretty bleak and desolate in the middle of the night...you can try and get some sleep on a chair but there's nothing else to do.


  2. I wish someone would tell those aircraft that come in all through the night that the airport closes at night.

    The airport never actually closes - take offs are restricted from 11pm until 6am - but there are many arrivals during the night so there is always someone about somewhere - you will not be alone sleeping in a chair somewhere.

  3. yes the airport does not operate in night time,  if you in transit you can stay at the airport.
