  1. Depends on what image you want. If you like the arrogant felon impression then you might say it gives you a good image. I think a lot of the violent, womanizing, drug dealing language can create for yourself a bad self-image. I used to listen to some hip-hop but I found I didn't like the way it made me feel about myself. It is cool to be a hoodlum when you are a teenager, but listening to that kind of message as an adult can be counter-productive if you want to foster within yourself a positive self-image and a constructive view of society.

  2. There is nothing about Hip Hop Culture that inherently gives African American's a bad name. Hip Hop Culture doesn't speak for all African Americans.  Hip Hop is its own thing and it is hardly a culture any more than NASCAR.  There are too many stereo types being thrown around and it hurts all of us.

  3. Unfortunately, yes for most people.

  4. To be honest with you, I think it does a little bit anyway.

White people that have black friends know that Hip-Hop culture is just a cool image thing, black people started and that most people that listen to Hip Hop don't smoke weed and pimping hoes.

Anyway Hip Hop culture is something black people started, and people specially some white people who don't have any black friends believe that most black people wants to be a GANGSTA or just don't want to do anything else then hang around with the homeboys in da hood and complain about that it is the white people to blame since you don't have a job and never did it well at school.

I know that black people isn't like that but all and the Hip-Hop and RNB music on MTV today are much to blame that people get the wrong impression of black people, and I think its sad.

And the saddest thing is that the Hip Hop stars who are mostly black people have so much power since they are so famous and have the opportunities to make Hip-Hop that really represent something more deeper then drugs, homicide, prostitution, and other criminal acts.

That's why other people all over the world get a wrong impression of black people.

I know that there is some god HIP-HOP artists that have more meaningful lyrics and try to change the bad image Hip Hop represents to all teenagers all over the world but it is not enough of them.

And I think that it is strange that adult Hip Hop stars think it is okay to give teenagers all the knowledge about the bad things in life and that its cool to be a GANGSTA.

Teenagers need to be positively inspired in life they don't need bad roll models, and I think Hip Hop does not represent anything god when adult people make lyrics about that they smoke weed and so on.

  5. In the earlier decades such as the early early nineties before 1994, and the 80's it didn't.

This day and age, i think it does.

Hip Hop, Rap and other forms of Pop culture present a bad image because it encourages and displays strictly stereotypes.

  6. To some people, yes. I personally don't think it gives them a bad image though.

  7. it maintains one.
