Question:

Does Hollywood Video keep record of transactions?

I admit that I am not the most punctual video returner, and have racked up some legitimate late fees to Hollywood Video. However, the amount that they are claiming I owe sounds WAY off base, and I would like to know exactly why they claim I owe so much. Do they keep a record in the computer of past transactions so that I can pinpoint whether or not a mistake has been made?

  1. Hey i actually work at hollywood video and the answer to you question is Yes, we do have records of your late fees and they show on a separate window. But all it shows is how much you paid towards it, also what was rented and the price.. ask the associate to show u the screen if you dont believe me,

also in regards to racking up late fees, its kinda complicated but its simple if you really think about it. No matter if its 1,3,5 days late the computer once movie is returned rerents it out to the customer, so when the movie is rented on a tuesday its due on sunday, mon-sat, wed-mon, thur-tue, fri-wed, sat-thur, sun-fri,

so say you dont return the movie u rented on tuesday on sunday, you have another 5 days to return it, or another rental cycle,

the re rents are the price of the movie in the beginning, and you dont gain late fees unless you return more late,

there is no possible way for a 4.50 late fee (MA sales tax) to become a 9 or even 13.50,

late fees on increase upon keeping over 5 days u paid for,

just keep in mind that you paid for 5 days and every 5 days you keep beyond that it will rerent for the additional cost of the rental

You probly had a late fee for say 2 movies "die hard 4", was 3 days late, and "transformers"(awesome movie!!!) was 1 now that = 9 dollars, say next time you came in to rent after dropibng them off, you have that late fee, you pay for the die hard one, so all that is left is 4.50 transformers...

well you returned "300" and "Vantage Point" paid for those and the transformers late fee, 13.50, well you forgot to return "300" and "Vantage Point" 3 days late. ok, so the next time you rent, the screen will pop up saying you owe, 4.50 for Vantage Point, 3.14 for "300" and 4.50 for the transformers... thus late fee for 12.14, thus the increase in the fee, and the statement "i already paid it off," the case is you paid part of it off, but when you add, your prevous late fee (which you never paid off!!) you get a higher bill, leaving you thinking you got cheaped outta money

So yes they do have records off what you have paid off, and any half desent employee will gladly show you the screen, explain to you what happened with your account, just speak with calmly because, heck if your really nice, and your a regular, and your not a @$$ about the late fee, the shift leader might void some off, be personable, and listen to what they say and how you developed the bill,

most employees dont like charging you late fees, believe me, i hate 1 day lates, its are job though its not are fault the way the system works or the costomer didnt return his movies on time, put it to you this way, at leat at my store, if you have a bill under 15 i dont make you pay anything towards it, under 25 put a couple bucks on it, or say rent 4 movies add to be 16.64 (yeah i work to much), use the difference to pay it off, 35 in late fees put 10, 45+ pay half or be reasonable

hey and we do work in sales so if you rent 2 New Releases get the bundle deal 2 popcorns a candy soda 1.99, even if you dont want it, but be yourself, crack a joke, make them laugh, ill void some money for you, just dont be a @$$ cause again i can be a @$$ back and tell you you cant rent again until you pay it all off!

Yelling and getting upset about a late fee, doesnt make the situation go away, it just puts us in bad moods, and leads us to higher stress levels, (trust me we already get it from this job, with all the promotions and stupid sales pitches, that can change by the day, plus we get it from costomers p'ed off cause the have late fees, be different when you get a late fee pay it off,

or heres a better idea get the MVP plan

    theres 3 versions

14.99 basic 3 out at a time can get late fees but get any movie for FREE that doesnt have the purple HOT sign or is blue-ray movie

24.99 Premuim 2 out at a time NO LATE FEES NO DUE DATES, EVERYTHING IN THE STORE TO RENT (including HOT new releases) and blue-ray

29.99 Premuim 2.. 3 out time same as above

you prettymuch rent 6 movies (1 or 2 week) a month (4.50 a peice New Realse) you pay 27.00 well that covers that 24.99 plan, if you get late fees or never rent on time, well guess what u dont have them anymore, keep them as long as you want.

all you need is a credit or debt to activate it and withdraw it every 30 days (monthly fee)

or you could pay straight up 3 months in advance or pay by the month 24.99, so months you know your gunna rent a lot sign up
