  3. If you like beans, you'll probably like hummus.  It rocks, especially garlic. Yum.

  4. Since your an Organic Girl you will want to try making your own Hummus. It has a nutty falvor since its main ingredient is chick peas. It's really yummy spread on some whole wheat bread with lettuce and tomato :-P

    Hummus Recipe

4 garlic cloves, minced and then mashed

2 15-oz cans of garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed

2/3 cup of tahini (roasted, not raw)

    1/3 cup lemon juice

    1/2 cup water

    1/4 cup olive oil

    1/2 teaspoon of salt

In a food processor, combine the mashed garlic, garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, 1/2 cup water, and olive oil. Process until smooth. Add salt, starting at a half a teaspoon, to taste. - Makes about 3 cups.

  5. It tastes like chickpeas, if you've ever had them, but a little salty and with a bit of lemon thrown in. It's very good and refreshing, but it really depends on the brand.

I love Trader Joe's hummus, especially the one that has no sesame tahini in it - even though sesame tahini is a key part in most hummus, for some reason this one is extraordinary. Otherwise, I like just about any hummus just fine except roasted red pepper flavor.

If you want to try to make it yourself before you splurge on a whole tub of it at the store, try a recipe like this one:

You can get organic sesame tahini at Whole Foods for a very reasonable price, and since you only use a little bit when you make hummus, it's well worth it and saves you money in the long run.

  6. Hummus is a thick spread and is full of flavor. it tastes like chick peas and beans. Thomas brand is a great for hummus try the garlic flavor of red belle pepper.

  7. It's usually pretty bland bordering on disgusting, but with enough garlic and red peppers it is not too bad.

  8. I LOVE hummus.  It's really good. Since it has olive oil in it, I make my own at home because I get sick on any type of oil. Yes, I'm sure it tastes better with it, but since I can't have it, it's actually fine without it. I throw in about half an avocado and some crushed red pepper flakes and it is so yummy!!

    Hope you enjoy it!

  9. I love Hummus. It's a mashed bean dip than goes good with crackers, pitas, and any Mediterranean "dipping food". They make different flavors, so depending on what you have with it,

that is what flavor you should choose. It is more of for snacks and is salty. You can get it at any Supermarket and is refrigerated, but NOT frozen.

  10. Oh god! You don't know what you're missing out on. Hummus is awesome!!!

To me all the hummus tastes the same, because they are made out of the same stuff, but you can always go bold and get the type with added flavors. Try hummus on a peice of toast of peta (sp?) bread. And it goes perfect with carrots.

  11. It tastes like...hummus. Nutty because of the sesame. Try the jalapeno hummus. Make a typical Middle Eastern meal with

    hummus

baba ghanouj (eggplant dip - make it at home if you're vegan because generic brands contain mayo)

    assorted olives and pickled vegetables

    pita bread

    fried hot peppers

    fried potatoes

this is a typical fast food meal in middle eastern countries
