For a really good player I think he shouldn't be on a team that's horrible.

What do you think?

  1. He had the abililty to control where he goes, but he decided to stay in Seattle for $18, $20 Mil a season, whichever it was.

By the time he's done that contract, he will be too old to make that much of a difference.

  2. Through his 16 years of professional baseball, he's only played in two teams (including Japan). I think he's loyal to the team fans more so than to the team itself.

The problem is that he signed a contract last year when Seattle had a decent chance of getting into the playoffs, but slipped after his long term contract was made. Plus, who could blame him for being on the most unexpected team (in the bad way) in the MLB? He is still hitting over .300 so you can't say he's not doing his share for the team

  3. Ichiro is very loyal to his Team and fans. Unlike some guys in the league.....*coughs* Manny Ramirez *coughs*

  4. Well he has a contract.  But he definitely doesn't deserve to play on the second worst team in baseball! The Mariners suck, especially this season.  He should join the Yankees!

  5. No, he signed the contract

  6. He signed with the Mariners.  It was his choice to do so

  7. Not any more. He isnt batting like he should be this year. He is batting under 300. and is a part of this mess. eventhough he is there best player. But if i were in his spot i would want out.

  8. What? There are a lot of good players on bad teams.

  9. Ichiro is very loyal to his team and fanbase i believe. It was his choice to do so and there are a lot of great players on not so good teams.. which kinda makes us want better for them but if they're happy then fine. I applaud him for staying though i really do.

  10. Even though the Mariners suck, Ichiro still signed a contract to play for them so good luck!

  11. He wanted to be in Seattle regardless of the situation. His loyalty is very well respected.

  12. Ichiro is a pompous azz who drove out their last manager Mike Hargrove who was winning at the time.  He deserves what he got.

Remember when Ichiro was resigned?  He demanded that Hargrove leave.

  13. MLB history has had many stars that played their entire career on teams that never won a title. (see-any cubs player that was a star that you can remember (ernie Banks)). But there are stars on several bad teams.

Ichiro was loyal to the mariners and signed the contract to play there. he should be applauded for his loyalty, and if the Mariners are ever going to do anything with him there, they need to get to it
