  1. Its decent but most european countries have a world class transport system so we are lagging a little behind.

Dublin has a light rail along the coast, electricified tram and a large city bus fleet so its well ahead of everywhere else on the island

Irish rail run an okay cross country train service from dublin to all the major towns and cities on the island like cork, belfast, galway, limerick, waterford and sligo.  Its clean, comfortable but it misses out large parts of the country like donegal and its not easy to get from one city to another e.g. from galway to cork (you nearly have to go back to dublin)

Bus eireann run an extensive coach service to almost every town in the country.

Imo ireland's public transport system is slightly better than that of the USA

  2. Nope but Dublin has pretty good system with trams and buses and train along coast but if you wanna travel further you're prob better renting a car or else gettin a long distance bus and rent a car in the town you go to. Get a bus to Donegal or rent a car and go!

Footprints is a Christian bookshop on Talbot Street and Easons is a chain that you'll find throughout city, big one on O' Connell Street, city centre.

  3. Not good by European standards, but it works. Bookshops include O'Mahony's Eason Hodges Figis Waterstones Chapters, etc

  4. Transport system:

  5. Outside of the cities, the public transport system in Ireland is not good at all.

Bookshops in Dublin? Eason's, Hodges Figgis, the Rathmines bookshop, Fred Hanna's, The Winding Stairs, just a few that come to mind as I type this.

  6. Outside Dublin there is no public transport worth the name. Although most of the bigger towns have a bus service connecting one another, for people out in the sticks there is often no way to get even to the nearest town and back on the same day by public transport.

Even the Dublin Bus service is, in my view, truly appalling. Schedules are considered to be very rough guidelines, and you might be waiting in the driving rain for ages while full buses pass you all the time without stopping.  They built 2 tram lines, but they are not connected, and the DART (train) has hardly any park-and-ride facilities.

There are plenty of bookshops in Dublin, Eason's being the one with the largest choice in popular contemporary fiction.
