Does Italian DVD recorder (Philips, Samsung, Sony...or other) work in UK?

I'm Italian and I would like to buy a DVD recorder for my English friend but, I'm not sure if it will be OK for the UK video network.

I am african and i bought an african video for my friend too and it worked so i think it would work because there is no good reason that states it wouldn't work.

YEAH IT WILL BECASE ALL OF EUROPE HAS A SPECIAL DVD TYPE OF FORMAT FOR "Region 2"
