  1.   In the past yes but today it's a Republic.

Umberto II  was the last King of Italy who was pressured to call a referendum on whether Italy would retain the monarchy, in which Italians voted for a republic.

All these happened in 1946. So today we have the Italian Republic and not a Kingdom.

  2. They will all tell you that they are descendants of some aristocrat or another but have fallen on hard times. If you believe them then I am sure that you will also believe that pigs can fly.

  3. Just recently the male heirs (heirs to nothing because Italy is a republic) were allowed to enter Italy.  They had been banned and had been living in exile in Switzerland. They were held accountable for Italy's participation in WWII when the then King allowed the fascist Mussolini to take power and pull Italy into war on the side of the Germans. The King fled the nation. They're usually portrayed as bumbling fools in the media today.

  4. yes they do

but they are banned from entering italy
