Question:

Does Italy have a hotel chain like the Etap?

In most of europe there are a chain of hotels called "Etap" owned by the same company who run the Novatel chain - Accor Group I think. These are very basic hotels (ie just a tidy simple room with a bathroom) They don't have resturants and generally cost about 30-50 euros a night - aka dirt cheap. But they are effective if you just want to crash the night somewhere clean and tidy. They generally aren't right in the middle of cities and are geared more at road travallers than those who fly in from another country.

Is there anything similar in Italy?

  1. Pierluisa is totally right.

I can suggest you a good internet site where you can safely book hotels in italy and also read the reviews of the other guests.

    www.venere.com

  2. No, unfortunately there is nothing similar in Italy ...the concept of simple, cheap basic hotel chain has not arrived here yet... Usually you find good deals in "pensioni", but they are family owned and you need to research city by city...
