  1. Yes. If he continues to produce and drive in runs he has a tremendous chance to win. All the publicity he's received so far won't hurt him either.

  2. definately. He all ready had 95 rbi by the all star break

  3. it's pretty hard to hit for the Triple Crown and not win MVP, don't you think?

Then again, I'm willing to bet that if he was a DH, he could hit bloody 1.000 and he wouldn't get MVP. So he should feel lucky he's an outfielder.

  4. Absolutely, as he has a chance at competing for the Triple crown. Though it is not likely, he simply has a chance at MVP, because of his statistics. It will be interesting to see how he fares the second half of the season as he has not played an entire season in the minors of pros for years. It would definitely help if Texas continues to perform well out west. At this point, their offense is one of the best in baseball, lead by Hamilton.

  5. Sure, he has a chance.  I would say a pretty good chance because if you look at the standings and look at the players on those teams, no one really stands out as being irreplaceable on a playoff contending team.

Even Francisco Rodriguez has a chance at winning it.

Triple crowns don't always result in an MVP.

If memory serves, Ted Williams won the triple crown twice and neither time won the MVP.

Lost out to Dimaggio and Joe Gordon.

  6. More then a chance he has already one the thing

  7. If he keeps performing the way he has thus far this season, it would be a travesty if he doesn't get it.

  8. I'm stunned that people are still predicting a Triple Crown for Hamilton because it simply isn't going to happen. He's all but a lock for the RBI crown but will come up short in both average and homeruns.

And as his production declines in the 2nd half and other players catch up to him, so too will his chances of winning the AL MVP.

His teammate, Ian Kinsler, will have a better shot at the MVP than Hamilton and you can throw ARod and Justin Morneau into the mix, as well.

Hamilton is a nice story but he'll fail to close the deal on the MVP award despite his white-hot start, just as he failed to win the Home Run Derby.

  9. not a chance...a very very big chance....he's been doing amazing. I'm not gonna lie, If i was a voter, his story might be a good thing for him b/c its great to be MVP caliber but when you're an MVP caliber player that has been through what Josh has...its even better

  10. i think he has a very good chance. statistically, he is having the best year out of anyone in the major leagues (except for one of my favorite players Ian Kinsler) but i think Josh will win it simply because he bounced back from his drug problem and now is clean and hitting the c**p out of the ball

  11. Yes, he has the biggest chance becuse of how well he did in the first half of the season.

  12. he has a very good chance, but unless Texas makes a big run at the Angels (or the wild card), He probably will not win it because a lot of times, the MVP goes to a team that makes the playoffs. Not every time, but usually. If they do make a legitimate run at the Angels and maybe end up a game or two behind them, or somehow win the division, I think it will be a sure thing for him.

Something else that could happen is someone else could getreally hot in the second half, and even if they dont have comprable stats to hamiltons, just a better second half, they could win it because he will get the votes because he will be more fresh in the voters minds

  13. Why he should:

He straight up is killing the ball this year. Hes up at the top of the list in all three of the triple crown categories (Home runs, RBIs and Batting Average) If he wins the triple crown hed be the first to do so in forever and that would definitly warrant an MVP award.

    Why he wont:

His team sucks, over the years the players who have won the MVP have had their teams in contention or actually in the post season. But like I said if he wins the Triple Crown it would be hard not to give it to him. Plus his story is amazing its hard not to root for a guy like that

    My prediction:

He's gonna win the triple crown or come d**n near close. This guy is a freak in the baseball universe and if he doesnt win the MVP he will be an incredibly close 2nd place
