So, does this Action override National Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity.

It was Georgia that used Military Force on it's own citizens, even when those Citizens had Russian Citizenship as well. Russia made such a choice, the use of Military Force to defend their own Citizens attempting a cessation from Georgia. Much like we aided Serbia/Bosnia cessation. Such intervention was initiated by BPM Tony Blair - humane ideology - flawed by a powerful or hostile country preventing such intervention.

We can use Sudan/Dar-fur as an example - where US demands action, yet wants someone else to do it.

Even today, Georgia's President insists on egging Russia with unknown intent - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080814/ap_on_re_eu/georgia_impassioned_president;_ylt=AmfT_SbgA4E.pIx1DZG3BMxbbBAF.

  1. we need to stay out of Georgia. We can't afford to make enemies with Russia. We are in a sticky situation. If we don't help Georgia it gives the impression that we won't help any European countries that Russia attacked causing Russia to believe that they may be able to regain their Empire without interference from the U.S . On the other hand we can help Georgia and risk having a conflict with Russia right now, a risk I am not sure we can take. "Rules and Regulations" aren't going to stop Russia from doing what they want. If Russia wants something bad enough they will start a war to get it.

  2. It's a tough call.  Logistically, we can't do it without making ourselves EXTREMELY vulnerable.  I'm positive Iran would strike if we went to Russia!  It would be their perfect opportunity.  Come to think of it, looks like WWIII is ripe for the picking!

  3. Yes

Humanitarian intervention will mean our troops will need to be defended

Bush will send aid in hopes Americans get attacked so the US can defend itself, its a way to help our allies

    Just my thought

But I don't know politics that well.

it just seems to be oil defense and an oil pipe runs through Georgia

so there is my take on it but remember this is yahoo wrong answers...lol

  4. Mikheil  Saakashvili wants to be a  Nato and EU member. He wasn't feel "safe" when russians army only 100 miles away from his borderline, that's why he push hardly his own country to allied with U.S, that's why he spend lot of effort for join nato club.

At the last summit nato officials said

    - We gave a special homework to all candidate countries about "end your conflicts with your neighbors & ethnics"

that's why he act so hurry, so  moronic. He wont loose internal control (because he was gave promises his own people about nato & eu )  and miss the chance to join nato ( he believe nato can protect georgia against Russia's aggressive interest )

FEAR from russia,. paranoia? maybe .. maybe not. but this is the reason all happen .. fear. He scare madly, he can do everything u can imagine, because russia.

That's why he ask U.S aid, he can found humanatery supplies from many different countries ( Like EU members , Neighbours ) but he seek "desperetally" want's to see U.S Arm Forces at own lands for kind of Insurance, I'd guess White House isn't "cold" his help distress too.
