Question:

Does Kaiser accept Medi-Cal/Medicaid?

My family and I are currently with group insurance coverage through work but I am getting laid off in September. My wife is 2 months pregnant and I am worried about her insurance outlook. While we can do COBRA insurance, it's very expensive. We, or rather she, doesn't qualify for individual insurance through Kaiser because pregnancy is a pre-existing condition. So my question is: does anyone know if Kaiser accepts Medi-Cal if she qualifies for that program? I don't have much knowledge about those programs because we've never been in this boat. My wife is very adamant that we stay with Kaiser due to comfort level, so if Medi-Cal is not accepted, then we will do COBRA.

  1. The best of solving your querrie is to contact the Kaiser officials. I would advice you to talk to their benefits councellor, and briefe him/her in detail about your situation. He would definitely guide you in the right direction, i think it would be best if you go to their office and meet them personally.

  2. I NEED TO KNOW IF KAISER EXCEPTS MEDI CA

  3. They do but you need to be on full Medi-Cal then the  California Dept of Health Care Services will send you a packet of information of HMOs within your county and if Kaiser is one of them then you're lucky. After that, you will be asked to be enrolled in those HMOs and wait for 45 days for approval.
