Does KeeKee think the mouse is real?

Question

It is the size and color of a large mouse. It is so lifelike that guests have been alarmed when they see it.

KeeKee never tires of it. She throws it up the air and carries it from room to room. She can entertain herself with the mouse for a long stretch at a time.

Does KeeKee know it's a toy or does she think it's real?

No, she probably realizes that its a toy, but obviously she likes it!

I'm sure she can smell the difference.  She might even wonder why it never moves or doesn't taste so good.

could be either because cats plays with toys and play with there prey before they kill it.
