Hi,

I have held L1 Visa for a company X, today i am on rolls of company Y, and would want to visit the US. Is it possible to visit the US on my L1 ? Does it get revoked as i leave X? Is there any way for X to block / revoke the L1 issued to me? my validity date on L1 holds good for more than a year.

  1. It might not be "revoked," but it is not valid for visiting. It's only valid for trips during which you would be working for company X. Company X petitioned for you. The State Department issued an L-1 visa to you with an endorsement showing that Company X would be your employer.

If you are no longer employed by Company X, the L-1 visa is of no value. If you want to visit the U.S., you need a visitors visa. The L-1 visa is not issued for the purpose of visiting.

  2. The L1 visa became invalid when you left Company X -- it is automatically revoked when you change employers.  You cannot use it for visits.  Company Y has to apply for a new visa for you before you can enter.
