Does Las Vegas have a hockey team?

I have read about a team called the Wranglers, but what is the deal with Las Vegas, do they have a NHL hockey team or something close to it?

No way a team in Las Vegas survives, might as well put another team in Canada. Winnipeg would be the ideal place.

Las Vegas does not have an NHL team, and if the NHL has any sense, there will never be an NHL team in Las Vegas.

Hi..  Yes Las Vegas does have a hockey team - not an NHL franchise yet. Seems all forgot about when Radek Bonk was sent down to the minor from Ottawa, he ended up in Las Vegas.. Cute story, and true...  Las Vegas Police Department early hours of one morning, they were investigating a car parked on a steet "island" with someone inside of it... Who was it...  none other than Radek Bonk sleeping off a hangover...

Also a story going around that Jerry Bruckheimer of CSI fame is interested in acquiring an NHL franchise.

A new rink / venue is being built as we speak  east of The Strip, and in back of The Famingo, in hopes than its tenant with be either a Bruckheimer financed NHL team or an NBA franchise...

And if it's left up to Commisioner Bettman, it sure won't be an NHL team.. All too close to the gambling element..

The Las Vegas Wranglers are an ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) team, meaning they are the 'AA' minor league team affiliated with the Calgary Flames. Every so often there is talk of an NHL team moving to Vegas but so far it's been just talk.

San got it right. The Wranglers are an ECHL team (though it doesn't stand for East Coast Hockey League anymore--It's just ECHL), which is two steps below NHL. The closest NHL team is the Phoenix Coyotes. There are rumors that producer Jerry Bruckheimer is trying to get an NHL team to Las Vegas.
