well if you gonna downlode /zip/rar/exe/ and like this of files you will get a viruse

and even sometimes maby the prtoction don't tell you it is a viruse !

You don't get arrested, you get sued for illegal downloading. When you download a file that's under copyright (commercial music, software, movies etc) without paying for it, you are committing copyright infringement. Legally, the punishment is a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00 and up to five years in prison per file. The RIAA has sued around 50,000 people for illegal downloading. Most settle out of court for around $10,000.00 in fines.

Only if you don't have an antivirus software. It's rare to get a virus, but possible. If you don't have an antivirus program, check out avast antivirus home edition-google it. It's free and has kept my computer safe for 5 years through myspace, limewire and many other possible threatening sites.

I've been a limewire user for probably 4 years and I have been a basic user and a pro user. So far nothing bad has really happened, at first it froze my computer maybe twice a week while downloading, but good news is I havent been arrested :) Overall, I love my Limewire and it has become my most used and favorite program. Good Luck and I hope you end up liking as much as I do.

Limewire is not illegal. That's why they don't get rid of it, for the dolt who mentioned that. P2P software is perfectly legal. The illegal part comes into play when you start downloading copyrighted material.

Do most get in trouble??? No not yet. But be assured there is a digital trail of what you have downloaded that may come back to haunt you one day. And those that do get prosecuted get sued for thousands of dollars per song.

What are they gonna do arrest all of use who use it? Thats nonsense.

People say its illegal. But if Police or whoever really cared about it they wouldve gotten rid of it already.

You cant get viruses unless you download them so watch what you download.

Limewire does Not 'give' you viruses .. The files you download can .... You have to be careful what you download .... And file sharing IS NOT ILLEGAL

Limewire, the program, is usually virus-free.  You have to trust the download source.  WWW.downloads.com is a reputable source.

What you have to worry about are the downloads from other peoples' Limewire share folders.  Limeware does NOT guarantee that they are clean, virus-scanned files.  BE AWARE.  You must run a current anti-virus program with definition updates often. (like hourly, if you have a choice)

If you are running a big-time share access for world-wide use you could show up on the radar for the RIAA group that investigates illegal music downloading.

Limewire, Bearshare, Morpheous and all the other peer-to-peer network programs do NOT give you a virus, the files you download DO. YES, if you download copyrighted materials, you CAN be found through your IP address and prosecuted, as well as the person providing the file illegally. File sharing by itself through a peer-to-peer network is NOT illegal. What IS illegal is to make illegal copies of copyrighted material, and them make these copies available. You can get a fine of up to $250K and a jail sentence of up to 6 months. At present, the music and movie industries are filing lawsuits against hundreds of people every week for copyright infringement. The only limit on how many lawsuits they file is how much in the way of resources and manpower the industry is willing to expend to find YOU. The people who say they have been doing it for years and the people saying they can't catch everybody are partly correct. The point IS, they ARE catching people, one at a time according to the resources they apply to the task. It is not IF you get caught, but WHEN. AND, only then, if you are downloading illegal copies of copyrighted materials, will you possibly get caught up in the net. If you are not downloading illegal copies of copyrighted materials, you have nothing to worry about. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time...

If you are not careful, yes, you can get all kinds of viruses and spyware from Lime Wire downloads. Make sure you have a good virus scanner (Avast is a good one and it's free) and a good spyware checker (Spybot: Search and Destroy is a good one and it's also free), and scan every file you download before you open them and you should be fine.
