I downloaded it about a month ago.

If it does, can I successfully undownload EVERYTHING that has to do with limewire from my computer without it getting a virus, or is it to late? I have a new computer, I got it for christmas, and if it messes up, i dont want my parents to be mad or anything.

  1. QUOTEWow, the previous 2 posters arnt very bright. No limewire doesnt have VIRUSES. Files you download using limewire can most defiantly have viruses. I dont recommend using it. It is not to late, just uninstall it and use a virus scan program to check your computer. A good free one is AVG antivirus. Google it, i use it currently.

Also, never worry about "messing up" your computer, everything is recoverable from a reformat and all you will have to do is start fresh. Nothing would be permanently damaged. Before you ask someone to fix your computer at 75$ an hour, google it. Most answers can be found online.

i couldnt say it much better as a computer technician except for avg i do agree that it is a good program but what it does is uses resources from windows that cause it to run slower if u need a antivirus go for nod 32 or kaspersky top 2 in the world

  2. Every piece of software is going to have some kind of exploit, but there are several things you can do in order to keep yourself safe no matter what PC or operating system you use.

    1. Be careful what type of sites you visit. There are many unscrupulous websites out there that will readily infect your machine with a virus or adware.

    2. Instead of downloading music, go to the store and buy the CD or buy the MP3’s from legit sites. Not only will you avoid any financially difficult legal situation, you'll also avoid any website that promises free MP3 downloads but only delivers viruses and adware.

    3. Instead of looking for software cracks or serials online, look for coupons. The "crackz" scene is filled to the brim with malicious websites. You're not safe when you're visiting these "seedier" websites.

    4. Do not run in Administrator mode. You should only run in Administrator mode when you're installing hardware or software, but running in a lower security mode you'll avoid a lot of the more invasive attacks.

  3. Simple answer. Yes. It gives you viruses. Don't use it. Run an up to date virus scan on your computer and it should catch anything you unwillingly installed.

  4. Limewire does not give you viruses.  However the programs or files you download from it have a very high chance of haveing an attached virus. The only way to keep from getting viruses is to not download it in the first place.  Stay safe. If you do banking on the computer your going to download limewire to your life is at stake. Some viruses track your keys and can easily steal your bank password/ID.  Big mistake if you download it anyway because law inforcment track your IP address if you share files and they can come to your house and charge you about $600 per song you download.  Programs can cost much much more.  Stay safe, be smart.

In addition to your second question, no.  If you download a file it is almost impossible to completely delete it from your system.  Unless you run virus scans every hour your likely to get viruses that can't be noticed for a few days after download.  So it's vewry hard to find the sorce of the virus.  If you want to protect your computer have a professional come and wipe out your system of all LimeWire communications/programs.

  7. Limewire is a major vector for malware, yes.  And using it to download any file that's under copyright (commercial music, movies, software, TV shows etc) is illegal.  If caught, you (and your parents) face a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00 per file illegally downloaded, with the additional possibility of up to five years in prison per file.

  8. Yes it does.  And no, you can't just uninstall everything.

That's what you get for stealing music...

  9. Not if you have a Mac or Linux.

I download from Limewire all the time. Around 48 hours worth of songs. No virus, ever.

  10. Limewire gives your computer manyyyy viruses.

the only way not to get viruses from music is buying it.

i use citrixwire its exactly like limewire but known to have less viruses.
