It doesn't... but there is a somewhat similar story... well, it's different really, but it's still about love and basketball.

Not that I see.  Gina Prince-Bythewood, the director, is also credited with writing the movie and when you do a search under her name at amazon the only book I saw was a mention of her name in a book on how to audition.  Searching under title and book, no luck.
