  1. Force Recon does not exist any more, the units were decommissioned.

most Force operators filled the positions at MARSOC. some went back down to the Battalion Recon units.

you are confusing Battalion Recon and Force Recon.

  2. Force Recon is a component of Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC)  This is a new command based at McDill and it relies on each components special skills to employ them for very specific missions.  So the Force Recon training is, in and of itself, complete,  However the force recon men combine with other special operation units to conduct the MARSOC missions - so they have to train for interoperability.  Hope this helps.

  3. They have similar training but is separated by the fact that MARSOC isn't reserved for the support of the Marine Infantry; needless to say that they don't focus on supporting the MEF or MAGTF as much anymore.  MARSOC has introduced a separate doctrine concerning consular affairs of the world.  FORECON was evolved to help the MEF and/or MAGTF Commmanders in battlespace shaping when the grunts are on the ground.  The only FORECON Companies that exist today are the Reserve components of the 4th MarDiv.  1st and 2nd FORECON has been disbanded and integrated to MARSOC as you know.  MARSOC's new doctrine emphasizes in foreign relations whereas FORECON has not done in the past.

  4. Simaler but not the same training they both do slightly different jobs.
