  1. In the 19th Century, when the earth first had one billion people on it, Thomas Robert Malthus proposed that there must be an upper limit to human population, or that we would outstrip the natural resources, before they can be replaced!

In geometric progression of human growth, the working classes are those that suffer the most! If Malthus was correct, the 6.6 billion people living today, would double to 13 billion, by perhaps 2020.

However, the unpleasant conditions, and lack of resources, would lend itself to revolution, and the overthrowing of governments!

China, for example, with its 1.5 billion population, has taken "Malthusian" measures to curb the exponential growth of its population, by limiting each family, by law, to NOT have more than one child per family!
