  1. Stop it w/ ur stupid questions Gianfi! He just likes to hit that ball hard, that's why it's almost always out. Give him a break, he made it to the semis at Wimbly, so stop ur whinin'

  2. Safin is talented but he is also inconsistent and lacks mental toughness.

His "finish this point quickly before I make an unforced error" mindset is what's stopping him from being a good player to becoming a great player.. That and his immobility.

  3. Marat is tall and an excellent athlete. He has many options.

But his problem is consistency, and mental attitude. He lacks mental toughness.

  4. Everyone goes for big shots at that level. It's the ones that consistently make them that win. If he didn't hit that way he'd be done even faster.

  5. Safin lacks mental endurance moreso than physical endurance. If Safin had the heart and desire that other top tier players possess he could be a special player. Sampras once said that Marat Safin is the future of mens tennis. He has good mobility for someone of his stature. He also hits a very heavy ball on all ground strokes...not just fast. Safin has shown his brilliance from time to time but rarely does he show it for a whole match. Safin vs. Sampras in the US Open final and Safin vs. Federer in the Australian semi were two of his finest performances

  6. Going for big shots is just his style. Not exactly because he lacks the endurance to play consistently. He can play consistently, otherwise he wouldn't have won a grandslam. It is just unfortunate he is not in a great form now. Even that, one can disagree cos he made it to Wimbledon semis afterall. It just shows he's getting better!
