Yes it does have MPFI.The full form of MPFI is multi point fuel injection.The last letter in VXI i.e "I" stands for fuel injection.

It depends upon your location. MPFi cars came out when emession norms were implemented, starting from Bharat Stage I, i.e. Euro I.

First one to get it were major cities.  Here the car available will be MPFi, but if you have purchased it from some other city, lets say, Nashik or Rajkot, then at that point of time, Maruti was still selling Carb models as the emession norms here were not strict.

The rule for implementation is that first all major cities move to a higher standard and rest of the country moves to a standard lower.  The present status is that for all major cities Euro-III are the norm and for rest of the country its Euro-II.

Now for suddenly meeting the emesssion norms, Maruti came up with a Zen with 8 valve engine and MPFi.  This model made 55bhp.  Then the 16 valve MPFi model came up in 2001 itself, producing 60bhp.  

Just read your manual and see bhp figures.  You will come to know.
