Question:

Does MaxStudio actually boil the silk worms before they harvest the cacoons to make silk?

Some companies use what is called "peace silk" and they don't actually kill the worms. I've decided that I don't want to wear or buy products from companies that kill the worms and when I wrote to the company to ask them if they do or not, I didn't receive an answer, so I thought I'd try here.

  1. I don't know about MaxStudio, but here is my guess.

It will be more expensive to harvest "peace silk" than to just kill the worms.    Why would a company (who's ultimate purpose it to make money) pay more for a raw material?    Because they think that it is important to their customers.   They would choose to pay more because they believe that their customers would prefer to purchase their more-expensive product (with the cruelty-free ingredients) rather than a regular product.

For this reason, if the company used peace silk, they would advertise it.   They would have this information on their web site.   They would have a brochure to send you when you ask the company.    They would make this a selling point of their product.

If they aren't doing this (and clearly they aren't) then I would assume that they are using regular silk.

    I hope this helps.

  2. I think they actually deep-fry them.  That is how they taste, anyway.
