Does Mazda Miatas share engine and tranny with any Ford model???

Question

Being that Ford owns Mazda and they share engines, trannies and Platforms like Explorer, Ranger with Navajo and B2200 (among others), I'm wondering if Miatas from `93 to ´97 share engines and trannies with any Ford model??? Please specify which ones.

They do not. The Miata is a RWD car and the smaller fords are all FWD.

The Mercury Capri from the same period shares the basic engine but nothing else.  The MX-5 is a unique platform that was not used by Ford and shares very little even with other Mazda models.

I should add that 2G Miata's share an engine with a Kia.

Ford bought Mazda in 1999 so any previous models did not share parts.

I believe the 3rd generation Miata does share the Duratec 2.0L with the Focus, although tuning could be different.
