gaining a majority in either house this election and so it will be an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress he may get to work with?

If so - why does he keep promising things that obviously a Democratic controlled congress will not approve.

eg continued presense in Iraq and possible action against Iran

Further tax cuts for the super wealthy

School vouchers

a giveaway of anything up to a half a trillion in taxpayers money to health insurance companies aimed at undermining employer provided healthcare.

  1. Agree with Elle.  Just as with the Gang of Ten, there will always be democrats who are willing to seek reason over partisanship and do what is best for America.  That includes giving parents the right to choose their schools so that the poor and minorities are no longer confined to failing schools while elitists who pretend to be for the folks like Jesse Jackson send their kids to private schools.

  2. He knows their party is pretty well destroyed, and all politicians know what to do in cases like this.  Pander to the independent vote!

  3. Bipartisanship    = only in his speech not in his heart or he would not have allowed some of his speakers on Wednesday to attack Obama and his followers.

  4. Why does he slate speakers knowing their assignment was to Bash democrats all week?

  5. He's a moderate republican and has pissed off the party on more than one occasion. He's also sponsored the immigration reform bill with democrats. Mostly, he's reaching out to independents who are undecided, but hate having to align with one party or the other when they don't really agree with either.
