Does Melatonin really help you fall asleep?

I am looking for a "safer" sleep aid. (Which I need regularly) Does anyone have experience with taking melatonin?

  1. Sure, it has worked for me. Try taking it an hour or so before bedtime.


  2. call your dr. and ask for 50mg. of trazadone.it waorks better and is non-addictive.

    been taking it for two years.

  3. Melatonin is great, you wont regret it. I take it about 20 minutes before I go to bed and I'm usually really tired when I go to bed (because of the pill) and I fall asleep in less than 5 minutes. It's really good!

    If I'm flopping around in bed and can't fall asleep, I drink a cup of melatonin tea and about half an hour or so later, I crawl back into bed and sleep really soundly and well.

    As mentioned above, melatonin is a hormone that is naturally produced by your body.  

    When your eyes sense dimming light, the body increases melatonin production, which regulates the awake/asleep cycle of the body among other functions!

The nights my husband REMEMBERS to take Melatonin, he sleeps more peacefully and soundly.  When he forgets... he snores and practically jogs in his sleep.  It takes him about a half an hour to fall asleep after taking the pill.  It works for him!  It's a naturally occurring hormone.  Some people don't produce enough to sleep well.

  6. Melatonin does help you fall asleep. It is produced by the pineal gland and regulates sleep and wake cycles. It is safe to take but if it does not work for you, you can always go to the doctors and get a prescription for a sleeping medication such as trazadone.

  9. I dont but my neighbor has taken  it and says its great. it also give you good dreams. maybe I should try it!
