I am a newspaper carrier that has hundreds of papers each week that i just throw away. I am also a girl scout troop leader and mom and thought about that recycling these papers would save trees and show my troop some things on recycling and all and maybe they can even visit the center. Also do they pay you anything to have them recycle or not? I know I have heard that some recycling centers will pay you to recycle anyway let me know what YOU know.

  1. As of March 1, 1993, the City of Meridian residents began participating in Mississippi's most comprehensive curbside recycling and yard waste composting programs. Waste Management of MS & Meridian constructed Mississippi's first Recycle America Processing Facility, located on Hwy 80 E. This facility is where recyclables are brought, sorted into various categories, crushed and bundled for transportation. These recyclables are then delivered to users of recycled materials where they are made into new products. If you would like further information or a container to participate, please contact Waste Management of MS Meridian's Recycle Hotline at 601-693-1620.

Plastic, aluminum cans and newspapers are picked up once a week.
