Does Mexico have service dogs? Can you take a service dog with you to Mexico and have it do its job?

Yes there are, but they are not very common, as sadly they are too expensive for the average person here. However if you can stand some people staring, sorry, there are some ignorants, you'll be fine.

If you run into an ignorant security guard or police man don't get intimidated, say "perro de ayuda" (help dog) or "perro entrenado" (trained dog) and continue what you are doing.

You can also ask out loud if someon speaks English and can come and help you.

A good thing is that most people like dogs.

I have a Doberman and he is obdienced trained for 2 years, not service just - sit , stay , heel.

I write this as it was a real hassel flying him in. Maybe its different with a service dog.

The other funny thing as they stare at my Doberman. They have purebreds but I dont know , when we are out walking everyone stares - more than the US.

The other thing is they are BLOWN away by his training. They just giggle and laugh at how he listens. They love thier dogs , dont get me wrong BUTTTT. They are not " part of the family " mentality like in alot of other countries.

I surely would want to come to Mexico and put up with the problems here for greater reasons than just a service dog.

Mexicans could not afford a seeing eye dog type of service - just FYI. Donate and volunteer trained service dogs ( seeing eye ) could be do able but search and rescue - I dont know.
