  1. That's like saying that someone with stronger arms has an unfair advantage in weightlifting.

Innate, natural qualities like that are what make up the quality of what we know as "talent", and Phelps has more of it than any other swimmer.

  2. He does not have an unfair advantage. Don't hate on him because he has won more Olympic medals and records then you ever will. Jealously is a cruel thing

  3. actually, he has a advantage because he has everything a woman could ever want...

    muscles, talent, good looks.

  4. ADHD is an illness. Last time I checked illnesses and diseases didn't give people advantages.

  5. No but he does havea freakishly sized wingspan.

  6. not being able to concentrate as well as others is an advantage ? how ?

  7. He doesn't have more energy. He has no more unfair advantage than anyone that started young. He has a talent for swimming. More talent than anyone else evidently. But none of that is "unfair".

If ADHD gave people advantages, they wouldn't try and cure or medicate people for it.

  8. No not at all!

He may have alot of energy with ADHD, but just think how hard it would be for him to apply it to swimming. He has amazing focus (not characteristic to ADHD) so he has to be in control of his ADHD which other swimmers do not have to think about. He is probably working harder than everyone else by keeping his ADHD under control!!!!!!!!!

    Good thought though!

  9. Phelps is very fortunate to have had a coach that noticed talent, was knowledgable about training a potential elite athlete from the very early stages, and was able to help him harness and channel his extra energy...

Is it unfair? Not at all (unless someone just wants to make yet another excuse for not being as good as someone else).
