    The second one. McCarthy has berated Pompey for outbidding him on two players he was interested in securing for Wolves - players that Portsmouth could scarcely afford to fork out for, judging the club on their current financial status. McCarthy reckons that "if someone is prepared to run their business and keep spending a pound more than they earn, then you know it is a recipe for disaster at some stage. It has got to be."
