  1. Well He's Probably Got 4 Years Left In His Career

  2. with the way he has been pitching this year he has a chance to win about 5 more games and he may have 2 to even 4 more seasons left in him. he is 39 turning 40 at the end of the season. he needs 37 more wins if that is divided into 4 seasons thats about 9 a year. with his accuracy and the location of his pitches he could do it.

    hope i helped

  3. A chance? Yes.

A good chance? No. Which is not to say he won't do it, but it's not the way to lay money reliably.

He's at 260. Give him another, oh, five this season, that's 265, 35 short. I don't see two 17-win seasons left in him, so we're looking more toward three 13-win seasons (and be fair, stopping at 300 on the nose is gauche, and already overdone, so he needs to crawl past to 305 or so). Three seasons at ages 40-42.

He's available after this season, and earning $11M in 2008. So he's an expensive arm at a "could collapse at any moment" age. Sure, the Yankees might bring him back, but does any other team want to commit eight figures to a 40-year-old and hope for an ace or #2? And again for 2010 and 2011? He'll need a strong team behind him to get the Ws with consistency, and -- oh, go ahead and hit the thumbsies-down, I care not -- the Yankees are on the way down. So Noo Yawk might not be his best scenario next year.

Look, Moose MIGHT reach 300 Ws, but most of the factors involved are aligning against him. Don't be surprised if he sputters out before 275.

  4. I hope so.  He is one classy guy.
