Does Minnesota have a CRV charge?

Does it? Because I turn in my aluminum cans every week for a deposit and I have a lot of plastic bottles too!

  1. In terms of recycling, CRV stands for California Redemption Value and that is a particular charge for California only.  Currently in Minnesota there is not a similar program.  

    In states like California and Michigan you pay extra when you buy items in aluminum and other recyclable products.  You get that "extra" back when you recycle those products.  Here's info on CA's program:

    That said, there are some places in MN where you can be paid for your aluminum cans - check your local newspaper for ads like that.  More often though, there are groups like the Boy Scouts that collect aluminum as a fund raiser.
