how much can you modify the jack, gas can, air-wrench, track bar adjusting tool, spacers, etc. before it's considered cheating? Will they allow teams to use modified tools in the pit area?

  1. I have never heard of any regulations on tools. Why would they? If a tool manufacturer could make a better tool isn't that competition? That's what the sport is about. I think it would be wild to have a jack they slid under the driver side only and it raised the whole car up at once. That would free up some time for the jack man to make adjustments to the car. It would give him more time to make track bar adjustments, put in wedges, bang out dents etc.. It would still have to be light enough for them to carry it but I think it is possible.

Also have a air tool for the lug nuts that had 5 sockets that you can load with lug nuts. When you take the old ones off it triggers the inside of the socket to let the next lug nut out. Increased pit times and increased pit competition.

They could choose between a jack for 4 tire changes and a smaller jack for 2 tire changes.

  2. That is a great question. I think they can use any tools that they want.

  3. i know that the air impacts they use are totally custom.... it was on speed a couple weeks back and they have the choice of steel, titanium, or carbon fiber cases, where the exhuast port is located, how many vanes are on the motor and such..... it was an interesting clip on nascar garage if im not mistaking
