Nadal withdrew from the Mercedes Cup open, and is limping again. Does this mean he loses points in the ATP race or do you not lose points in cases of injury withdrawals?

Nadal's knees are starting to go. Guess this is the beginning of the end for him.

  1. I hope so.

  2. He isn't limping he only withdrew as a precaution from his doctors and his knees aren't starting to go. Imagine if you just played a 5 hour epic I don't think you'll be able to play the next day either

  3. did he withdraw from Stuttgart? i couldn't read something on the MercedesCup homepage. this will cost him 250 points in the ATP ranking. for the ATP race this has no effect, it simply means he can't add more points. for the Masters Cup he is qualified already for a while (since he won RG).

  4. Nadal could have played at Stuttgart and probably would have won it. He strained his right knee and didn't want to risk making it worse - it's not a serious injury and he is certainly not limping. He needs to rest after his awesome performance and savor this monumental victory. The points he will lose are insignificant next to the ones he gained by beating Federer at Wimbledon.

  5. I hope so. Why on earth would he schedule to play after Wimby? Stupid, stupid. This is why he's so burnt out this time of year for hardcourt season.
