Roman Catholic bishops consider her arguments on St. Augustine and free will so far out of line with church teaching that they have issued a steady stream of statements to correct her.

The latest came Wednesday from Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik, who said Pelosi, D-Calif., "stepped out of her political role and completely misrepresented the teaching of the Catholic Church in regard to abortion."

It has been a harsh week of rebuke for the Democratic congresswoman, a Catholic school graduate who repeatedly has expressed pride in and love for her religious heritage.

  2. She is just a CINO (Catholic in name only) so she can win elections.  She cares nothing about anything but power..

The Bishop was make an analysis of her statements from a theological standpoint not a political or legal one.  It amazes me how so many want to shut up any opposing opinions..

  3. Nancy Pelosi expresses a political opinion, not a religious one when she speaks officially.  The Roman Catholic Church does not define abortion as murder.  It defines abortion as a mortal sin.

  4. Yes, she seems out of touch with catholics and many other things.

  5. Religion should have NO place in politics, period.

  6. "But whether or not parishioners choose to accept it, the theology on the procedure is clear. From its earliest days, Christianity has considered abortion evil.

"This teaching has remained unchanged and remains unchangeable," according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. "Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law."  This is not true and the Catholic church has never been against abortion on moral grounds. The church used to teach that the soul entered the body at quickening, usually in the 3rd or 4Th month.

Personally a religion who went on 11 crusades which were  Crusades were fought mainly against Muslims, though campaigns were also directed against pagan Slavs, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Waldensians, Old Prussians and political enemies of the popes.  They also killrd thousandsof Protestants in England, and like to sodomize little boys then cover it up has no business taljing about morality. Didn't they also support Hitler?

" the Catholic Church legitimized the n**i movement and supported their war effort" As part of the agreement with Germany, the Catholic Church agreed to dissolve its Catholic Party and the Catholic Youth. Of course, the n**i Party and the n**i Youth grew more rapidly when this happened and this allowed Hitler to rise to power.

Pacelli became Pope Pius XII on the eve of WW2 in 1939. Because of his close associations with Germany, he was accused of remaining silent about the persecution of the Jews. Also there were many instances of local Catholic Churches in various countries that were anti-Semitic.

I don't think the Catholic Church can take the high ground on much as they seem to be a bunch of hypocrites!

  7. Fighting abortion is really making abortions for the affluent only.

  8. well, considering the catholics ran organized "schools" to sexually and physically abuse hundreds of thousands of native children around the world - and that the current pope has defended their organized pedophilia as , in his words "neccessary for the purification of naitves", I highly doubt anything catholics have to say has any meaning or relevance.

  9. Nope.  Bishop Zubik needs to stay out of politics or start paying taxes.

  10. Does McCain realize that adultery is a sin?

He needs a refresher course in being a good man.

  11. No...she doesn't.  She needs to take a refresher course of Common sense 221 and Being an effective god d**n politician 101.  Since she has, and is not, neither.

  12. I will go a step further.

Who cares what St. Augustine thought centuries ago? Why should one's religious views have any bearing on government policies that influence everyone?

To be honest, the Catholic Church contributes to the high level of abortions in this country and others because it does not support the use of birth control. If you make contraception as prolific as lemonade I bet you could reduce the abortion rate by 30%, WITHOUT government control. Religion is a part of the problem.

  13. Yes or she should quit trying to BS her gullible sheep with her revisionist attempts.

Abortion is murder. Killling an unborn child is murder.

  14. You could be for abortion (pro-choice) but be against partial birth abortion. You can be for some levels of abortion but not others. I think we use abortion as a blanket statement instead of limiting it (i.e. to the first three months of pregnancy).

My thing is if the mother's life is at risk, deliver the baby premature, especially if it is beyond 30 weeks.

The problem with partial birth abortion is that you need to "kill" the fetus.

  15. She hasn't set foot in a church since the day she was married!
