Does Nano-technology already exist?

What's the deal with nano-bots anyways? I've read that mankind is on the verge of a nano-revolution? Things like an artificial-immune system, self-cleaning bath-tub's (scrubbing bubbles for real), nano-bots that make food, or even a rocket that could build an entire city on an asteroid upon impact, using self-replicating, construction nano-bots? How far away are these things? What if nano-technology fell into the wrong hands?

  1. are you getting the nano-tecnology thing off the MGS series?

  2. There are many products on the market today.  You may have already bought some.  The number of consumer products using nanotechnology has more than doubled, from 212 to 475, in the 14 months since the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies launched the world’s first online inventory of manufacturer-identified nanotech goods in March 2006.

Food companies including Heinz, Nestle, Unilever and Kraft are currently using and testing nanotechnology for food processing and packaging.  Nanotechnology is now used to manufacture nutritional supplements, flavor and colors additives, food packaging, cling wrap and containers.
