  1. I think only A schools close for some holidays, I'm not sure how high up on the list thanksgiving really is. I think its a fairly safe bet that boot camp will go as schedualed. Sucks that your folks will have to fare holiday traiffic. Good luck in boot camp.

  2. it is never sped up. a school it just depends on your commander. your mom is most likely going to be coming to see you. my husband is in the navy, i am leaving for navy basic training on sept 17 myself.

  3. Nope, you will be in basic over the holidays.

  4. nope! enjoy your winter x-mas at Great Lakes  NTC! I hope you get plenty of snow! LOLZ!

  5. Thanksgiving is like a Sunday with a big meal.

You get the day off unless you are assigned  essential duties, and then Friday, it's back to work.

  6. really up to the RDCs and how far along you are.

you really won't know for sure until a couple of weeks after you get there.

  7. No speeding up. You will be there 9 weeks.  Tell your mom to stand by on buying any tickets to come see you or taking time off from work.  There are a lot of factors at play with boot camp.  If you get sick or injured or you fail to conform to Navy life and get into trouble you will be set back in training accordingly.  When you graduate is not a firm date at all based on those variable.  You will know about 4 weeks into boot camp if it is safe to assume when you will be graduating and then you can tell your mom for sure.  Tell her now to tell her boss that sometime at the end of Novemeber she will need some time off so her company can at least be sort of ready for her being gone.  Other than that she runs the risk of paying a lot of money to rent hotel rooms, a car, plane tickets or whatever.  Ask your RDC's after a few weeks if you should be on track for graduation on a certain date and they should be able to help you out some but they cannot control bad bahavior just in case you want to get into trouble or you getting sick or injured.  This does happen a lot so please don't guarantee your mom anything just yet.  Good luck and welcome aboard.
