  2. Yes, there are actually two programs for this.

    The first is a state rebate system for the installation of your system.The percentage of rebate has changed recently (lower), and I heard this program is in danger of being cut due to lack of grant funding from the state.

    The second is operated by the power companies. You would receive credit for power generated in a grid-tie system and sent into the lines. All power companies in NJ are not using this program though. You'd need to check with your local power company to see if they will give credit. Even if you can get "credits", you will not be able to reduce your electric bill to zero with a grid-tie system, because certain charges (distribution, taxes, etc.) can not have credit applied.

    Be sure to do your homework thoroughly before making a decision on a solar installation.
