Does Online Job hunting works?

Well this is my first time looking for jobs online via sites like Careerbuilder and Monster. I found all my previous jobs via the newspapers and they worked for me. I just moved to Florida and my friends suggested that I should look online. I am skeptical about jobs hunting online but I don't want to miss out any good opportunity? So what are your thoughts on this?
