Question:

Does PAM damage non stick pans?

I have a set of Anolon Advanced cookware of various sizes. My wife and I were avid PAM users, but now 3 years later 2 of the pans seemed to have lost their "Non-Stick" all signs lead to PAM being the culprit. Can this be true? If so is there any remedy for these pans to remove the filmy pam layer and restore the nonstick? Has anyone had any experience with PAM PROFESSIONAL?

  1. It is not the Pam. It is caused by heating the non-stick surface too quickly and it effectively burns the coating layer by layer resulting in the funky residual feeling within the pan. Besides, non-stick degenerates over time and has to be tossed out anyways and replaced every few years. If you don't like replacing pans so often, I recommend using much cheaper and more resiliant, and longer lasting pans such as cast iron.

  2. Well, I have been through training for selling all sorts of pots and pans, and will tell you that pam is not good for non-stick. We recommend to our buyers that they use oils, peanut, virgin, vegetable. Once a non-stick pan is pitted, it is ruined, also, they should never go into the dishwasher.

Your pans can not be restored now, they best thing you can do is buy new ones. It is unsafe to use a pitted non-stick pan because the stuff they use to make the non-stick can potentially come off and cause harm.
