  1. It is very cold and very snowy during winter in Pennsylania.

  2. There are two Pennsylvanias:  one east of the mountains and one to the west.  The one to the east, or waterside is quite mild for it's latitude.  It's actually a sub-tropic climate.  A typical winter day is ~50 F during the day, and ~35 F at night.  This is the weather in and around Philadelphia, where you'll find the U of Penn.  Of course, there are non-typical days, but they are few.

To the west (and north - the other side if the mountains) is another story.  Here you'll find a typical continental climate with long, cold winters that have lots of snow.

  3. I am currently loving in Pittsburgh, PA. And yes we do have a winter here... pretty c**p one to say the least. With the hills, and the quickness of everything up north willing to change in a heart beat we have long-drawn out winters that results in tons of accidents, and lots of snow.

So the answer to your question is . Yes.

  4. There are differant climate zones depending on where you are.

Southeastern PA down near philly is not too bad. It does snow, and it can be cold, but many days are mild as well. In the mountains it can be bitterly cold with more snow. And in Western Penn near lake Erie they get buried with lake effect snow sometimes. So it realyl dpendings where you are.

  5. Hi there i am a meteorologist, and i am going to give you the short answer, if u live east of the mountains it is just cold, and a little snow, west of the mountains it is snowy thanks to the lake effect machine.
