Does Petsmart have reliable chinchillas, or is Petco or a breeder better?

I want to find this out because i am getting a chinchilla for my b- day and i want it to be well- socialized. or, how do you socialize a petsmart one so it is social?

  1. Dont get form Pet stores, they don't hold there animals there, and usually they don't allow people to handle them, the ones there are also pretty much full grown. your best bet is to get one from a breeder, where you can see their parents and know that they are handled and well tame.


  2. Pet stores are the WORST place to purchase a chinchilla. Chinchillas from pet stores come from mills, and you'd only be supporting the horrors that go on at these places. They are also often over priced at pet stores, $150 is far too much to be paying for a chinchilla.

    Please consider adoption. There are so many unwanted chinchillas out there that desperately need homes. You can adopt an already bonded pair for about $130, with singe animal adopt at around $65.
