Does Plato's Closet pay well for your used clothing?

Question

I have some gently used clothing, most name brand that I am willing to sell to Plato's Closet for a fundraiser.

Do they pay well? (Can you give me some examples if you've had personal experience there?)

Or would it just be better to hold my own garage sale?

Oh wow, NO. I went there, I brought two bags full of cute, designer name brands and such, and all they bought was a blue skimpy skirt, for $2.30 cents. I would suggest that you hold your own garage sale instead.

they pay horribly.

i brought like 3 pairs of jeans, 2 hoodies, and a couple of shirts there a few months ago and got $15 bucks.

it would definitely be better to have a garage sale.

no no no no no! they take certain things. they will give you $3 a shirt. it is bull SHIIIT! i have clothes that i have never worn and still had the tag on and they wouldnt take it. stuff ive had for maybe a year. they are stupid

am not familiar with your area but here are some good solutions to earn extra money.

1. If they are in good shape you can sell them over EBay!

2. Second hand thrift stores will buy them.

3. Have a garage sale.

4. Sell to a friend that does flea markets or sells used clothing.

5. Sell to your friends.

6. If any of it fits me or may family, I may be interested in them! :)

Here are some good solutions that will not earn you money.

1. Give to a friend or relative.

2. Give to a charitable thrift store.

3. Give to a church.

4. Give to a homeless shelter.

I hope this helps, but whatever you do. Please do not throw them away even if they are not in the best of shape!! There are already too many nice or still wearable clothes rotting in landfills. :)

If you cannot find anyone to take them then drop me an email and I may be able to help. We are always looking for used clothes or sneakers for our family. If they fit us we may buy them off of you.
