Question:

Does Proactive really work, or do they just have a lot of money for celebrity endorsement?

I can't decide whether Jessica Simpson puts her name on a product because it really works, or because they're paying her so much money. I want to try the product myself, but I want "real" opinions first since it is so expensive.

Thanks!

  1. I use it and going to the dermatologist this afternoon to find something that actually works! But I guess it really depends on what kind of skin and acne you have. I think they just pay Jessica Simpson a lot of money because they have a lot of money since they charge so much!! lol. Don't buy it. It's a waste cause it doesn't work on most people is what I've heard. And it smells horrible. It takes months for it to work and it's a three step process once or twice everyday and it dries your face out. If you forget to use it just one time your face gets all red and sore and breaks out. That's just their way of getting you to buy more. I personally recomend clean & clear because I tried it and after just one time, it cleared up A LOT of my acne. But, you can also try going to a local spa and having a facial done or ask for some sample face cleansers that they recomend or there are pills that clear up acne from the inside. I took the pills from proactive and they worked the first day so I kept taking them and then my acne would become really horrible for a few days then clear up a tiny bit, then get bad again, then clear up a little less, and so on until my face broke out so much that cover up foundation didnt even cover all the redness. So you could go to a dermatologist and see what pills actually HELP your face instead of HURT it.

  2. I have used it for ten years now, and love it.

It lasts a long time -- you don't need to get it that often.

I won't do without it... just my opinion and I'm clearly not a celebrity.

  3. I USE Proactive Im not somebody saying "my friend said..." or anything, i USE IT and....its amazing!!!

it takes 30 days for the ingredients to take effect in your skin so most people dont see results right away and say it doesnt work, IT DOES AND ITS AMAZING!!!

Sure it makes your skin a bit red and sensitive right after washing it because the cleanser is a scrub and the toner causes that "burning/tingling" effect but that lasts for 2 minutes and its remarkable.

At first MORE pimples will appear because the scrub is removing the dead skin so the pimples underneath the surface are going to come out and pop which is what you want, then after 30 days of using it your face will be clear-like-glass.

    a-m-a-z-i-n-g from a proactiv user!!!

  4. No, it doesnt. If you stop using it ONCE, you will break out all over your face. Trust, me, i know. It happened to plenty of my friends. It is just so you keep buying it, because if you stop, your acne will come back worse!

    I really dont recommend it.

    Dont waste your money!

  5. I used it .... it doesn't work.  I'm using others it really good n not expensive at all.  6pcs only cost me RM 460.00

  6. When i used it it worked but i ended up not being able to get any more of it because of the price =P

  7. I hated it. It took too much time, it smelled bad and it didn't work for me. I ended up letting it sit there and then threw it away. It was a big waste of money. A simple cream called benzamycin from my dermatologist worked better than the lengthy twice a day 3 step process for proactiv. You can fine benzoyl peroxide creams at the drug store.

  8. Most people say it dosent work very well.

here are some reviews of the product: http://www.acne.org/proactiv-solution-re...

As you can see, not many people liked it and thought it was worth the money. And you are right, they just pay a lot of celebrity endorsement. Its just a waste of your $40 dollars.

You would be better off with a less exspenive, and better product/system like AcneFree.http://www.acne.org/acnefree-reviews/158...

    which has better reviews.

    Good Luck!

  9. I am a Registered Nurse and I specialize in skin care and teen acne.

Most of my teen patients have not had good results because it over dries and causes irritations.

JS got 2 million for the ad so that's the aswer to your question.

Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

Your age plays a role! How old are you? Do you always have breakouts?

However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

If you are a teenager ( which I assume that you are) your hormones play a definite role in your breakouts.

If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE!  Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you.  I refer all my students and patients to this website:

    www.aboutyourskincare.com

You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

    Night time:

    1. Exfoliate the skin

    2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).

    4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts

    5. Moisturizer

    Morning:

    1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    2. Moisturizing cream

The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com

As  I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.

    Good Luck to you,

  10. i use Neutrogena and it really works well for me...i think different products work for different people and you just have to try things.. my friend said that proactivee dried out her skin and she still gets break outs

  11. Well, it all depends on your skin. It worked for me, but doesn't basically mean, it will work for you. You can try it though, and if it doesn't work, you can simply return it. If you do intend on buying it, make sure you buy a moisturizer, because the 3step lotion, really drys out peoples faces. If you want to just buy the 3step product, you can, then you can buy Aveeno (less expensive) to moisturize your face (it won't clog pores). Good Luck.

  12. my friend said it didn't work...i went to a dermatologist and they gave me some stuff that cleared up my acne really fast

  13. practive doesnt work at all i bought it and it sucked they photo shop acne on their faces and on the real kids they take it off!

  14. It works really well for some people, and I'm sure that Jessica Simpson just does it 4 the money! But I recommend that you try it! :D Good luck! <3 ya ~ Zappy!

  15. if you use the 3 steps every morning and night then it works magic. the only thing is that sometimes it'll dry out your skin so after i usually put on my own moisturizer

  16. It doesn't work for me.... but I have friends that have used it for years because it works for them. Just depends.
