  1. Recycled paper comes from papers that have been recycled. So basically recycled paper is first made just as normal paper.

  2. actually blind kid it depends on what percentage of your " recycled paper " is post consumer waste - if 50 % is post consumer waste then the other 50% is form fresh cut trees - its not always 100% recycled paper unless its printed as that - most of the time they preserve trees and boast as being recycled paper by useing a ceartin ( usually 25% ) percentage of recycled paper -

  3. It comes from recycled paper so if u trow away paper it will become new paper

  4. Yes, it can do.  Some people on this board are correct about pre and post-consumer waste, whereas the knee-jerk numptys are numptys.

Recycled content is the use of waste material as a feedstock for a product.  The issue is one of "when does a waste become a waste ?"  Last year's European Commission guidance on the classification of wastes and by-products seeks to clarify the issue and wood products such as forest thinnings (where a tree is cut for its trunk, and the branches are cut off and left in the forest) are now classed as waste.  Therefore, if that waste product is used as a feedstock, then it's fair to call that percentage of input recycled content.  This is also true of many by-products such as ground granulated blast furnace slag, china clay stent, pulverised fuel ash and flue gas de-sulpherised gypsum which are theoretically brand new products, but which are classed as recycled when used as product feedstocks.

Therefore, if the paper contains such material as forest thinnings, then it could be brand new timber, yet still be classed as recycled.

    Meads.

  5. No, recycled paper comes from paper that has been taken to a recyling plant and reused, not virgin trees. ( in a way it does because it comes from paper that comes from new trees)think about it. But new paper does come from freshly cut trees not scrap wood, that does seem like a good alternitive if it could be done though.

  6. this is such a stupid question, it comes from used paper (the paper which people recycle)

  7. imissmahboo is correct.  There are two types of paper "recycling."   Pre-consumer (meaning recycling paper before it has been sold) and post-consumer (meaning recycling paper after it has been sold).

Pre-consumer content would refer to factory scraps of any sort that are recycled, from tree parts that would have been tossed away to paper trimmed off pads before their sold.

Post-consumer content refers to any paper that has already been used by a consumer.

It's a great question.  One that some people THOUGHT that they knew the answer to - but didn't ask.  And were wrong about.

  8. its not that it is scrap lumber mills use all that they can even the bark that they cut off the logs but the paper does have new product in it or the material wont bond right together

  9. recycled paper comes from old papers and the only stupid question is the one you dont ask and want the answer too

  10. recycled paper comes from paper that has been through a recycle center. not trees

  11. Most of the "recycled " paper that you buy at the office supply store is about 30% recycled or 'post consumer use' paper. There are some higher percentages available, but generally, the quality of the paper suffers if you use too much recycled content. People like to feel environmentally concious, but they also like to use a good product that doesn't fall apart in their printer. Most paper mills plant many, many more trees than they cut down, because they realize the importance of forest conservation. Without trees they would not be able to sustain their businesses, so the majority of paper manufacturers ( in the USA) are actually the world leaders in reforestization.
