  1. Regaine contains the active ingredient Minoxidil. If you run a search on Minoxidil using the U.S. National Library of Medicine Database of medical abstract, it throws up near on one and a half thousand hits as of today. But sift through and you will probably find conflicting evidence for its therapeutic benefit and use. A typical up-to-date review concludes that "although topical steroids and minoxidil are widely prescribed and appear to be safe, there is no convincing evidence that they are beneficial in the long-term.":

I think you could end up spending quite alot of money only to be disappointed.

You could try taking Saw palmetto berry extract. This contains natural inhibitors of both the enzyme 5α-Reductase (mainly type II) and the testosterone metabolite dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This enzyme and the metabolite DHT are both implicated in male pattern baldness. Nettle root could also have a similar effect.  ,

Other herbs and supplements that can strengthen the hair include: horsetail [Equisetum arvense], zinc, B complex vitamins, protein and Methyl-sulfonyl-methane or MSM (sulphur is an integral part of the hair).

Externally you can try rosemary oil or lemongrass oil capsicum/cayenne oil or ginger oil....to stimulates the circulation.

Avoid soy (soya) as it can promote hair loss by its suppressing action on the thyroid gland. Good thyroid function is important for healthy hair. If you are not on thyroid medication you could take sea kelp tablets which might help with hair growth as they boost thyroid function....NOT if you are thyroid medication however.

Nothing is guaranteed to work and what works for one might not necessarily work for another, and this is the case with herbal medicine also. Going bald is natural for most men, with varying degrees of baldness at ages that vary also. Why not just embrace that gracefully. There are also other benefits of taking Saw palmetto and nettle root... they promote healthy prostate function.

Some individuals may develop a reaction to Minoxidil. I think the label would carry more information on that. You can also find such info if you run a search in your favourite search engine.

Also, whatever you decide to try, consult a qualified pharmacist first if you are on prescription medication owing to potential drug-drug interactions or herb-drug interactions.

  2. When it's gone it's gone!

  3. Rosemary essential oil added to your shampoo or massaged into your scalp (not straight, mix it with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond or grapeseed) works really well. It takes a while to see results, but it's safe, won't make the problem worse, and may just be the thing that works for you.

  4. My ex used a high strength version of regain for years, didnt make any difference whatsoever, save your money, come to terms with it and shave it all off

  5. The chap above me said the right thing... when its gone it really is gone, theres no real way you can make hair grow in places where it hasnt grown in over 2 years. Another thing is the product you most likely talking about will only thin and spread hair muscles around your head rather than making new ones which ultimately would leave you without hair quicker than without treatment
