Does Rob Drake belong umpiring major league games, he's tossed Lou Pinella for the 2nd time this year?

This guy is awful. Why does a minor league umpire see so much time in big league games? He's too much of a coward to confront a big league manager that he tosses them at the first sign of confrontation. He's thrown Lou Pinella out twice this season and he's also tossed Ozzie Guillen. This guy came up to fill in for umpires taking vacation time, WHY IS HE STILL HERE. He's proven in every game he's umped at the major league level that he's not capable of making the correct calls and he's not capable of handling situations. What is MLB thinking by continuing to send this guy out there.

  1. This is the same guy who blew the call on varitek's homerun.

    He's terrible.

  2. Sinatra got tossed because of the helmet toss, Lou had it coming when he went out there... that being said, it was awesome to see Lou get tossed in person

  3. Replay showed that the ball beat the foot to the bag and he dove which slowed him down, the umpire can eject any manager or player at anytime he wants to. Lou Pinella was getting ejected by any umpire who was out there. You don't know what you're talking about.

  4. Drake tossed Piniella in the Sox game earlier this season after an awful call, and he blew another one on Lee earlier in the  Marlins game.  Oddly enough, it looked like he got the second call right which he ran Sinatro and Piniella.  The guy is an obvious ego maniac and a bad ump to boot.  Get him out of there!

  5. i .am a cub fan first

now sinatro did tossed his hat before he

got out to the field .

  6. i had said earlier in the game before this call was even made that i hate rob drake. He is just a pathetic minor league umpire who wishes he was a permanent mlb ump. They need to stop calling him up and give other umpires a chance because he obviously does not make very good calls. I'll admit that both piniella and sinatro deserved to be thrown out, but you know its a bad call when sinatro gets that mad. However, going back to the first time lou got kicked out. If the coach isn't even looking at you to see the ump kick him out, something is wrong. Everyone gives me the "you can't argue balls and strikes", but lou never did. He only walked out and walked back so Rob Drake can suck my balls.

  7. some managers dont take c**p, i know i wouldnt.  I was at a cardinals/brewers game and the brewers manager came out to argue a check swing call.  He was thrown out before he could even get to the ump.  Its the fact that you dont know what he says, pinella could be cursing him out like crazy and making threats to his family or something.  A manager will be thrown out if there is any profanity, or if he even remotely touches him.

Besides, Pinella is probably trying to get thrown out, it fires up the team.

  8. Dude! It's a game. Lou goes out there to get tossed!

  9. Calm down crazy Cubs fan. You don't even know what Lou Pinella says to him.

  10. he is horrible hes been blowing calls all series like when he called theriot out 4 stealing 2nd when the guy didn't even tag him then calls derrek lee out on a check swing he didn't even make the of course mark derosa and Lou got tossed out cuz he told drake why he has to be an antagonist but i heard Lou had field a report to the league about drake.

  11. I don't think the issue here is the call, its the umps temperament. Their are automatic fines for tossing equipment, bats , helmets, etc. You see them tossed all the time and no immediate ejection. PInella says all he asked Drake is "why are you so antagonistic?" If true, does that deserve an ejection? Google Rob Drake and see the number of complaints, by players and managers. I also tried to look at his website, where he does a blog, www.theumpireslife.com. I got a notice the account was now closed. wonder why? Hers a link to a blog that came up on google. Remember this guy is fill in major league ump. Can you tell by what he writes? http://forum.officiating.com/showthread....
