Question:

Does Roddick have a chance at winning the U.S. Open?

Federer isn't the same anymore. Roddick has beaten Djokovic and Nadal in the past on hard courts. Maybe it is time for his 2nd slam? Obviously, he has to make sure his injuries are recovered but I think he can make a deep run in the U.S. Open!

  1. If roddick wins washington, and goes into the US Open with some confidence, then I would expect him to make a nice run at the title.  I agree that Federer is probably the only kryptonite to Roddick considering he is 2-15 against him all-time.  If Federer loses early and Roddick is playing well and feeling healthy, then I would make him the heavy favorite to win the US Open over both Djokovic and Nadal...

But watch out for Murray... he's going to be my dark horse pick for the US Open

  2. no

  3. I don't think so. I don't think Andy can still be talked about as a contender anymore. He is still a great character and vital to men's tennis but he is simply out of his depth against more complete, better players like Djokovic, Nadal and Federer(And I think Murray will soon be in that mix too)

Roddick has the big serve and forehand. But don't most of the top players have a big forehand now? aswell as many other weopons just as good.

    Roddick isn't 100% either

I'm sorry I have a feeling it's not what you want to hear!!! I like Roddick but nowadays there are better players. I think Roddick's Grand Slam title winning days are over. But nothing is imposible.

Edit: Yes The reason why Federer has been so successful is he plays a low percentage game but still makes a high percentage of the low percentage shots(If that makes sense) The reason why his form has droped from past years is because he(like you say) has made alot more errors this year.

  4. No roddick doesn't stand a chance. Thats personal opinion but i think that the US Open is already won and lost. I think federer wil make it 5 in a row YEAAHHH!

  5. wait! what? does he still play?

    nah! he has no chance

i don't think he can make a comeback

  6. yes he has!! the only one that stopped him from winning his second US Open over the years is federer and as you said he's not the same anymore and he has beaten nadal and djokovic, this year in Dubai, so i think that he has a good chance if he plays at his best and i really want him to win =)

  7. Only if the remaining 99 in the top 100 do not play

  8. He was a 1 slam wonder.Federer isn't the same as what?Roddick hasn't done anything even longer,so why would he do something now just because federer hasn't done much lately,he'll still smash roddick, and nadal was still up and coming the last time roddick beat him.

  9. I think so. I mean here lately, I think anyone and everyone has a chance at winning almost anything . I like Roddick and I'll be rooting for him!

  10. Needs a bit of luck and to play at his best.

  11. yeah sure he has a shot. If Federer loses early, Djok loses to say Murray, and Nadal loses... well Roddick might be able 2 beat Nadal. Maybe. But then he might also go out to someone like Kohlschreiber. I'd like 2 see him win it if Roger can't.

  12. let's see how he does in LA this week then i'll get back to you--he hasn't been playing well lately.

  13. I really wish he can make a run and it feels like time is running out for him, so it's now or never. But I'm afraid his game has stayed the same for the past few years while Nadal, Djokovic, and others have made huge strides. He still has big serve and a decent forehand, but how many other players have this and much more. While Roddick failed to make any negligible change to develop and improve his game others have outpaced him. But who knows, a couple of breaks for him here and there and he could find himself in the final. I can only hope he is healthy enough to make that sort of run possible.

Edit: I think it's far too late for him to make any changes to him game so I suggest that he try to keep the points short by coming to the net more. He cannot afford to get into long baseline rallies with guys like Nadal because he'll win very few of those. Also he MUST improve the quality of his approach shots. How many times do we see Roddick get burned at the net by a passing shot? More than any other top player, that's for sure. He just does not do enough with many of his approach shots because many of them are not even deep enough.
