Does Roger Federer needs a coach?

I have seen loads of people over-reacting to his loss yesturday but how significant is it that he hasn't had a coach?

He has been waiting for Agassi's old coach but should he get someone in right now to travel with him and to be of a support? I think so.

Sure there is nothing any coach can teach him about tennis but surely he could still do with one!! What is this Cahill doing? I last heard he was working at an accadamy.

  1. i think he justs need someone positive like a brad gilbert type person who believes in anything. I think he also needs to do less media until he starts to win abit coz at the moment all the questions at him are very negative. He needs support on the court someone who he can look up to and reinforce his belief in himself.

  2. He needs a shrink and that's the truth

  3. Hold the fone hes got Jose and hes had for about 3 months. It would be absurd to dumb him after 3 months just because his results havent bin as good as usual. Before he brought Jose on for Estoril he was sucking badly. Then he had a good clay court season and a good grass season. He had this crappy loss yesterday and god I hope thats the last of them. Its not fair to blame the coach - I am sure the coach doesn't say oh 54 unforced errors is prob a good idea Roger lets give that a go. What Roger needs is a sports psychologist to help him with his mentality! Theres nothing wrong with having Jose- I think Sampras recommened him too! He has never relied on coaches so don't expect Jose to be there all the time like say Nadal's coach. The coach really isn't the problem, its the head.

  4. He has one. I like Cahill. I think McEnroe would bring some crazy energy to his game. Would be interesting.

  5. i am a roger fan but i have doubts about his present form

    now.

one thing i must say is he needs to go back to the basics of tennis play as i see he is making so many unforced errors so i guess he needs to spend a lot of time in nets to iron out these unforced errors particularly forehand shots.

Seems to me all this talk about being the greatest player ever of tennis has gotten into his head and he has become complacent after years of success.(but that happens to many players as we can see that with ronaldinho of football etc)Its just so humane.

Also i think he lost his hunger for success and focus a bit.

I have never seen him making so many unforced errors on field. Its really hurting me and many of other fans of him.Its creating huge pressure on him.

I just honestly hope for him to overcome these humane obstacles to come back to his best form and get back the spirit he had even last year.

    Easier said than done.

He is only 26 and he has so many things to give tennis whether you are a Roger fan or not.

And he sure does need a coach to bring back his disciplined display of tennis without so many unforced errors .Good idea m8.

  6. I think that he needs a permanent coach and also thinks he need to lose the # 1 ( okay, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little after saying this) rating. I think by losing the # 1 ranking, it will give him the motivation and the hunger that might be slipping away from him. I love Federer, I cried after he lost Wimbledon for pete's sake, but he needs a change. I know that slumps occur, but they haven't for him. It's time for him to shake up things a wee bit. Still love Federer, always will !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I think he needs a full time coach.

Jose Higueras hasn't really helped Federer. His strategy for the French Open Final failed, and Federer has his worst result. Same with yesterdays match. He was missing all the easy balls that cost him loads of points! Anyways, maybe the losing helps him improve to be better. He's got something missing right now..I'm not sure it is lack of motivation or lack of confidents. But it's def. not talent that's for sure.

I suggest he conctact Tony Roche, b/c he was good at net, and Brad Gilbert would be good. I don't think it would hurt to call up Agassi, Sampras, or even hit with Johnny Mac.

Anyways, I think he just needs to regroup, and prepare with the time off to fix his game. He'll be back.

  8. na

  9. he don't need a coach to teach him about tennis, what he needs is a mental trainer.

  10. yes he does need a coach

  11. Roger is still working with Jose Higueras. They've been working together since before the French open. Let's not forget that during most of his dominance of men's tennis. He wasn't working with a coach, at all. Maybe the last thing he needs is a coach.

  12. Darren Cahill is the only one I can think of that I think can take Federer to another level like he did for Agassi.  He's the first one I thought of after he left his last coach.

I think  Higueras was at this competition and he's a nice guy and all but he's not taking Fed to the next level.  I heard that Cahill wasn't interested in coaching Roger.  Not sure how true it is.  Can anyone confirm this.

  13. he has one. A lot of people are saying Cahill is good.

  14. woow i thought he had some kind of coach

well first off we can clearly see that he needs a more of a mentall coach

i think his losses are not that poeple play

    but of his negative thinking
