Question:

Does Rolls Royce weld their automobile's engine compartments shut?

I heard that when a Rolls engine breaks down mechanics arrive in a covert-operative-like manner, quickly break open the engine compartment, fix the problem, weld it shut again, and leave in a "we were never here, and this never happened," manner. Does anyone know if there is truth to this?

  1. Well they didn't do that to my Rolls.

  2. I have heard of some wild automotive stories before, but this is one for the books.

    This is complete fallacy.

A Rolls has a regular hood that opens the old fashion way.  That's how all the fluids are accessed.  If I owned a Rolls and I heard someone welding on my car, there would be trouble.

I have a suggestion.  Ask the person who told you the story and tell them to prove their story.  For me if I heard the story the BS meter would be pegged at HIGH.

  3. that is crazy.think about it fluids need to be changed.

  4. This is the biggest load of rubbish ever. You can not weld an engine compartment shut, it stops oil and fluid checking, changing spark plugs, fan belts filters and many other regular service operations.

  5. No, they would need maintance/serviceing every 10,000 miles or something
